And I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that. Yeah I could lie, say I like it like that, like it like that. But nothing is better sometimes. Once we've both said our goodbyes. Let's just let it goLet me let you go...
***

The next morning, I woke to yelling. I walked out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Mark and Jaxon were standing nearly nose to nose, yelling.
“What are you doing here?!”
“I came to see my girlfriend.”
“You are the biggest dumbass I know! You just gave away her location.”
“How?”
“You have enemies too, Mark. They follow you everywhere. I've personally had to get rid of them while you've been with her! Now, you have brought them here.”
Really? Jaxon has had to get rid of people following us before?
“I didn't do anything wrong! I just wanted to see the woman I love.”
Jaxon scoffed and turned away. His eyes met mine from across the room.
“We're leaving,” he stared firmly.
I nodded. Mark's eyes found me standing in the hallway.
“What? She's going nowhere until I get to spend some time with her.”
Jaxon turned around so quickly it was almost a blur. He had his hand around Mark's throat and held him against the wall. He leaned in threateningly close.
“You will be the reason she is killed,” he growled out.
“Jaxon,” I said. “Let him go, please.”
He looked back at me. His eyes were angry. He released Mark's throat. Mark fell to the ground, choking.
“I'll have you fired,” he yelled, his voice raspy.
“Whatever,” Jaxon said, walking into the room I slept in.
He walked out with my bag.
“You have 20 minutes. I have to get everything ready and then we are leaving.” He walked outside.
Mark walked toward me.
“How's your throat?” I asked, annoyed.
“Okay,” he replied. “We have 20 minutes. What do you wanna do with it?” He smirked, moving toward me. He wrapped his hands around my waist and leaned in. Jaxon walked back inside. He made eye contact with me and his expression fell. Then, he shook his head and walked further into the kitchen.

I turned my attention back to Mark who was now kissing my neck. I groaned and pushed him off.
“What is your problem?” He grumbled. “You never want to have sex anymore.”
“I don't know what you're talking about. We have sex.”
“The last time we had sex was months ago.”
I groaned. “I just don't enjoy it, Mark.”
“Don't enjoy it? How do you not enjoy sex?”
“Maybe because all you want is to do enough to get you off and then you're done,” I mumbled.
“What?” He stepped back.
“All you want is to lay on top of me until you've finished. You don't even ask what I want or if I've finished.”
“I don't see what's wrong with that.”
I laughed sarcastically and began to walk away. Once again, I made eye contact with Jaxon. His eyes held laughter. I glared at him and walked outside. I walked to the edge of the lake and looked out.
How did Jaxon acquire such a vast amount of land? And his house? Wow.
“Time to go,” Jaxon said from behind me.
“Where's Mark?”
“In the car. Said he wasn't leaving until y'all talk.” He said, annoyed.
“Is that safe?”
“Nope. But I know my abilities and I know I won't let anything happen to you.”
I nodded. “Okay.”
I followed him to the car. Jaxon opened the door for me and I stepped in.
“So, back to our conversation.” Mark instantly jumped into conversation.
Don't get me wrong, Mark is a good man. He's smart and successful but that's about as far as his good qualities go.
“Seriously Mark? Do you not even care about my safety? Do you realize that you're putting me in danger right now?”
“I'm dropping you off at your office building,” Jaxon said.
“What? No. I'm going wherever she goes.”
“No, you're not Mark.” I said.
“Yes I am.”
“No-”
“Will you at least tell me where you're going if I don't go?”
“No, she doesn't know where we're going,” Jaxon said. “And I'm damn sure not telling you.”
“Mark, listen, I think our relationship has run its course.” His eyes snapped to mine. Disbelief shone brightly in his face.
“Excuse me?” He said.
“I don't want to do this anymore.”
“So, you just decide that you're ending our relationship? You don't get to make that decision.”
“Yes I do.”
He had been gripping my arm extremely tight and my fingers began tingling. “Mark, you're hurting me.”
“You're just going to leave me?” He growled. “I don't think so. You don't make decisions like that. You're just a woman.”
“Mark-” I began but he was ripped out of the car. I didn't realize that we were already at Mark's office and that Jaxon has gotten out of the car. Jaxon had Mark pinned against the car with his hand around Mark's throat and a finger in his face. I stepped out of the car.
“Jaxon, lets just go.”
He looked over at me, studying me. Mark spluttered our incoherent sounds. Jaxon released him after a few moments and Mark gasped in a breath.  I took one last look at Mark and closed the door behind me after sitting down in the seat.
“He's a dumbass,” Jaxon said as we drove away.
“I'm aware,” I whispered.
“Are you okay?” He asked, tenderly.
I looked down at my bruising wrist. “Yeah, there will be a bruise but I'm fine.”
“Well that's good but I was asking in regard to emotionally being okay.”
“Oh, yeah. I'm fine. I didn't love him or anything. It was just for my father.”
He nodded.
“So where are we going?” I asked.
“I'm not telling you.”
“Are you really not? I thought you were just telling him that!”
“No, I'm really not telling you. I also destroyed your phone.”
I groaned. “Will I know when we get there?”
“No.”
I groaned. “You're aggravating.”
He laughed. “Well thanks.”
I leaned up between the two front seats. I hated riding in the back like I was royalty but I always had to in case my father popped up.
“Can I ride in the front?” I asked.
“What?” Jaxon laughed.
“I hate riding in the back. I feel like a child.”
“I guess.” He pulled off the road to let me get out and sit in the front. Instead, I crawled between the two seats and plopped down beside him. He was smirking when I looked at him.
“What?” I asked.
“Oh, nothing.” He said, grinning.
“You're so weird.”
“Again, thanks.” He laughed. “It's sad, you know.”
“What is?” I turned to look at him, confused.
“That you haven't been taken care of.”
“You take care of me?” I was still clueless.
He chuckled. “Oh, I wish I was taking care of you that way.”
I blushed, finally catching on to what he was insinuating. “Yeah, well, I guess I'll never know what it's like.”
“You will, eventually.” He winked at me. My stomach fluttered.
I rolled my eyes and felt my tiredness begin to take over. Soon enough, I was asleep.
